Despite Struggles, Charley Hoffman Advances to BMW Championship

Sure, we can call it a lost weekend in Boston, but fortunately this is the FedExCup Playoffs — so all is not lost for Flash Global partner Charley Hoffman in his ongoing quest for a season-ending TOUR Championship.

True, Charley had few bright spots while playing 36 holes of golf at TPC Boston. He followed up Friday’s opening 76 with a second-round score of 75, obviously finishing well below the cut line. But this is also true: Charley will easily advance to next week’s BMW Championship in Indianapolis.

In FedExCup play, it’s all about the points — and Charley has accumulated 1,313 of them throughout the PGA TOUR season and first two weeks of the playoffs. That means he’s a lock to be among the top 70 who will advanCharley Hoffman Flash Global partnershipce after play at the Deutsche Bank Championship ends Sunday.

Charley entered the FedExCup Playoffs at No. 33 in the point standings. He moved up six spots after his strong finish last Sunday at The Barclays. Despite his struggles this week, the latest projections have him at No. 35 heading into Chicago. Track the latest projections here.

With a strong showing at the BMW Championship, Charley could easily move into the top 30 who qualify for the season-ending TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola, scheduled Sept. 22-25 in Atlanta.
