Charley Hoffman looking to build on momentum

Last modified: September 7, 2016

Our guy Charley Hoffman heads into the Deutsche Bank Championship on a roll.

He ended his first week of partnership with Flash Global last Sunday by firing a 4-under-par 67 to finish tied for 13th at The Barclays, the first stop in the FedExCup Playoffs. Sure, that put a lCharley Hoffman Deutsche Bank Championshipittle coin in his pocket but here’s what’s even more important: he moved up six spots in the FedExCup standings to No. 27.

At this point it’s all about being among the top 30 in FedEx points. The top 100 after The Barclays advanced to this week’s Deutsche Bank Championship. The top 70 finishers in Boston will move on to the BMW Championship in Indianapolis next week. Only the top 30 from there will advance to Atlanta for the TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola the week of Sept. 22-25.

Charley and playing partners Jimmy Walker and Brooks Koepka teed off during the first round of the Deutsche Bank at 9:03 a.m. EDT on Friday—that’s right, a Friday start means we’ll be able to take in the final round on Labor Day (Monday). There’s no better way for Charley Hoffman fans to spend a holiday, right??

We’ll be watching for Charley and the Flash logo throughout the weekend on Golf Channel and NBC.
